October 2011 Jared collaborated with SYNERGY PERCUSSION for a new electronic music project called CITYJUNGLE .
The project is all about writing and performing original music in the genre of DubStep, Breaks, and Drum & Bass– from a percussionists perspective. The 3 piece group uses digital marimba’s, futuristic gadgets, triggers on vintage drum kits, vocals, deep bass lines and lots of raw percussive energy and creativity.
The group also collaborated with Visual tech wiz kid Tokyo Love In – who shot a video clip and created a 1 hour long stop motion film that is in sync with the performance.
Synergy’s artist director Timothy Constable invited Jared to join the 3 piece group that also includes Sydney jazz drummer Evan Mannell. Jared and Timothy’s musical friendship goes way back –when Timothy was the Vibraphone player in CODA– they toured nationally and in Thailand. Timothy and Jared discovered they both shared a love of electronic music, improvisation and percussion– they would often listen to Squarepusher at full volume in the tour van.
The group played three shows at The Seymore Center in Sydney and one special show in the Melbourne Planetarium.
