Jared performed in the Sydney Festival show 41 Strings by Nick Zinner + Drum Circle IIII at The Sydney Opera House on 22nd January.
A massive drumming ensemble was put together from 20 local indie drummers and 2 synth players. The drum circle was lead by Hisham Akira Bharoocha (The Bordems) , Brian Chase (The Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Ryan Sawyer (Thurston Moore)
The performance was workshopped and rehearsed with the New York guests and 20 local drummers from bands such as Seekae, PVT, Holly Throsby, Midnight Juggernaughts, The Mess Hall and included expressive improvisation, dynamic swells, and lots of tightly locked unison rhythms.
The sound of the 20 drummers in the Opera House concert hall was described by SMH reviewer Harriet Cunningham as “At full volume, sharing the Concert Hall with this band was a bit like having a vigorous body massage while sitting inside a fully operational jumbo jet”
