Underscore music recorded some new compositions in the studio for Ensemble Offspring – a new music ensemble from Sydney.
The music recorded was from the concert series ‘Partches Bastards’ which took place at the Opera House on 2nd Sept 2011.
All the compositions employed a special tuning scale by composer and instrument maker Kraig Grady who was commissioned to write a piece along with other local composers Terumi Narushima, Amanda Cole and Damien Ricketson. The works featured some unique custom made instruments including a violin with 12 sympathetic resonating strings, 2 clarini’s (mini clarinet’s) a modified pump organ, modified vibraphone and some very unique meru bars (giant single vibraphone notes that sound like a pitched gong)
Jared had a great time recording all these unique instruments at Horus & Deloris studio and subsequently editing the performances on ProTools ready for mixing in California.
